Manage application storage data on iOS 5 [How-To]

iOS 5 lets you monitor and manage the amount of storage an app consumes on your iDevice, so that you can know which app is consuming what amount of space on your device.

Apple’s new iOS 5 has this super cool feature of letting you manage the application storage data right on your device, without actually needing a computer. This would enable you to know how much amount of data an app is consuming.

You actually have two ways to figure out this data on your device. One would allow you to view the entire amount of data consumed by all the applications. And the other option would give you a detailed statistics of how much amount of data each application is consuming on your device.

How to check the Used and Free space?

 1. Tap Settings on your home screen
 2. Go to General
 3. Tap About
 4. Scroll down a bit and you will find the column that shows Capacity and Available
How to check Individual app storage data?
 1. Tap Settings on your home screen
 2. Go to General
 3. Tap Usage
 4. You will find a list of Applications that consume storage data on your device.

The sorting would be made according to the maximum storage consuming app. Now, you could tap on the app for which you want to view some detailed info. This would take you another screen that would show some more information about the app like the Documents & Data that the app uses on your device.
You can even delete the app if you want to save some space. This would wipe off the application completely from your device. And even the app cache would get deleted. The same kind of information can be seen for iCloud apps also. This will come up in my next tutorial.
