Firefox, is largely regarded as the most successful open-source software that aims at improving browsing experience. Though Google Chrome has been posing as a major competitor for Firefox, many users are still sticking on to it for its stability and add-on support.

Mozilla recently changed their product release cycle and planned to have releases very often. But this has been annoying and confusing some users of the browser for their short release cycles. Firefox 7 was released just over 6 weeks before Firefox 8. But still, the feature inclusions will make us update the browser as and when it is released.

The company has made some much needed feature improvements to the browser. Here’s the change log for Firefox 8:

  • Add-ons installed by third party programs are now disabled by default
  • Added a one-time add-on selection dialog to manage previously installed add-ons
  • Added Twitter to the search bar
  • Added a preference to load tabs on demand, improving start-up time when windows are restored
  • Improved tab animations when moving, reordering, or detaching tabs
  • Improved performance and memory handling
  • Added CORS support for cross-domain textures in WebGL
  • Added support for HTML5 context menus
  • Added support for insertAdjacentHTML
  • Improved CSS hyphen support for many languages
  • Improved WebSocket support
  • Fixed several stability issues
Just head to their FTP Servers and download Firefox 8 now. Here are the direct links though.
