Apple has won a new patent that would use MacBooks to transfer data to 3G networks using a clutch barrel antenna, that would hold both the antenna and the display.
Apple’s 3G MacBook has been in the making for sometime and this patent suggest some more information about the future MacBooks and the future of notebooks. PatentlyApple has posted this information about the clutch barrel antenna, that woulds support both the MacBooks’ Display and the cellular antenna in it.
Apple’s claim seems to be clear, that the first and the second antenna elements of different types are mounted onto a singular antenna support structure, that is the Clutch Barrel structure, and this structure would also act as the hold between the display and the rest of the body of the MacBooks. This would be a super cool competitor for the Ultrabooks that are supposed to run Windows 8 for their MetroUI.
If you have read the Walter Isaacson’s Steve Jobs’ biography, you would know where he would go and dream about the next big things in tech. Jony Ive, the man behind all these designs has a lab at Apple that would design the future devices in 3D models and show it to the company’s executive team for approval. And Steve Jobs loves to spend time there. This new antenna should also have come from them and with Steve’s approval. And this is the next big thing for Apple.
