The hacker group, Anonymous who threatened to shut down Facebook for privacy issue has reportedly confirmed the Operation Facebook (#OpFacebook) as fake.
Anonymous, the famous hacker group known for its powerfulness has confirmed the Operation Facebook to be fake and was done by one of the hacker who claimed that the report has come out from Anon itself.
The members of Anonymous group have told CNET that the reports of taking down Facebook on November 5th is a complete fake and is not real. The news was spread by a single member of the anonymous group, who did not get any support from other members of the group for the operation.
Recently the Anonymous groups’ official twitter handle (@Anonops) confirmed that the operation has been organized by some of the Anons, and not supported by the entire Anonymous group.
#OpFacebook is being organised by some Anons. This does not necessarily mean that all of#Anonymous agrees with it.
Also, the group has told Gizmodo that they are checking out the legitimacy of the information for #OpFacebook in their official IRC channel. Here’s what they have got to say:
Anonymous is a mindset not a group. Mindsets do not have leaders. With any given operation there are always some who agree and some who disagree. With opFaceBook specifically there are those that agree and those that disagree. Annoymous allows each person individually to vote on each operation, a yes vote means they participate, a no vote means they do not. Anyone is allowed to create an op and if others vote yes it will get traction and something may be accomplished.
Infact, as a well known fact, Anons consider Facebook as their official messenger. And they are up and against this act completely. They later tweeted that they are against this act in an official statement of their twitter account:

The hacker group also posted a video on their official YouTube channel, confirming that its a fake report, but the video has also been removed by them recently.
So, will Facebook go down or not?
To be frank, the information is not yet known. And the Facebook is really working hard to prevent any such act on their front. Their team is up and ready for this battle as far as I heard from the internal Facebook groups. Since most of the Anons are against this act, the OpFacebook probably won’t go live. Anonymous are known for picking up their battle and fight only if they really need to.
