Android 4.0’s new Face Unlock feature, as expected, is a major fail among the users. The feature can be used to unlock the phone with just the photo of the owner.
Google unveiled their Android 4.0, the Ice Cream Sandwich to the public recently. And one of the major security addition that was marketed with 4.0 was the Face Unlock feature, that can be used to unlock the device with just the face of the handset owner.
But as many of the users and developers said and thought, this feature can be unlocked with just a photo of the handset owner, which can be obtained from Facebook either. The video posted by SoyaCincau.com has demonstrated this feature and it works flawlessly at a recent event by Samsung. The demo shows using a photo taken with the Galaxy Note, Samsung’s new uncategorized device and showing the photo to Galaxy Nexus to unlock the device.
This concern already went under serious discussion in Hong Kong, when the Ice Cream Sandwich was unveiled last month. And there seems to be no response from the company. A lot of developers are on the same boat, and are really concerned about using the so-called security feature in the new ICS. May be this feature could even go unused and be removed with their next update.
Here’s the video demo of the security feature:
But the video source could not be believed. This is definitely not a fake video but there might be some code running in the background to accept any photo. But if the video is true, then this feature is a major fail among the users.
May be this feature will be of much help if you are in the saloon messing up with your face? Let us know in comments! I will try passing this to Google!
