“Steve’s passion made him live longer” – Masayoshi Son

Masayoshi Son, CEO of Softbank shared his thoughts about Steve Jobs and his relationship with Apple. He insists that Steve’s passion is what made him live longer.

Softbank’s CEO, Masayoshi Son spoke recently at an event about his private meeting with Tim Cook, CEO of Apple and why his meeting was cut short. Steve Jobs has called Tim Cook to talk and instruct about their next product. Steve has called Tim when the meeting was happening and wanted him to meet at his home immediately.

“My boss is calling me.” was the statement that Tim made to Masayoshi, when Tim got a call from Steve Jobs. This meeting happened at the day of the iPhone 4S’ launch. And Mr. Son spoke emotionally about how Steve’s passion drove him to live longer than expected. He also shares that Steve was really very ill physically, but still, his passion made him hold his life in his hands.

When the meeting was in progress, Tim said, “Oh Masa, sorry I have to quit our meeting.” to meet Steve at his house.  Mr. Son said, “That was the day of the announcement of the iPhone 4S. He said that Steve is calling me because he wants to talk about their next product. And the next day, he died.” And is really touched with the passion Steve has for his job. “Even one day before he passed away, the first subject he wanted to call Tim Cook about… he wanted to talk about the next product,” Mr Son said. “That’s the kind of spirit a true entrepreneur would continue to have until they die.”

We’re really touched with Steve’s passion and his commitment to change the world. This has triggered the thoughts about Apple’s next product and how big it would be since this was the last project that Steve worked on!
