Run Android on your computer running any OS (Mac OS X, Windows or Linux) via Virtual Box.
Android has a very great capability of running on a variety of hardware. We could very well make use of this capability to try (run) Android on Mac OS X or Windows or Linux.
The steps are really easy and straight forward. I don’t recommend you to try a native install. I haven’t tried a native install of Android on a computer. But this method will easily help you try Android on a Virtual Machine.
How to run Android on any OS via Virtual Machine:
- Download a copy of the following files:
- Launch VirtualBox and Create a new Virtual Machine
- Select Use existing hard disk
- Select the folder icon and choose the Android VM Image you downloaded in Step-1.
- Now, VirtualBox will import the Android VM Image into the Virtual HD
- Customize the RAM to about 512MB. 512MB RAM must be optimal.
- You’re almost done now. Just go ahead and click on the Start button and it will launch the VM Image.
You might see some commands run-by. This is absolutely normal and there are just mapping it to your processor. Android will take sometime to start. You’re all good to go now. Just play with your Android on your computer. You can also install apps and it is just a normal Android distro.
Let me know if you need some help on this. Would be glad to help you out!
