How to download subscriptions to Newsstand on iOS5?

Apple has made the Newsstand live on iOS 5 and a lot of apps are now available on the App Store now. Here’s how to download subscriptions on Newsstand.

One of the major feature that Apple unveiled at WWDC 2011 along with iOS 5 was the Newsstand. Newsstand helps you manage and get updated with the subscriptions and gives you a Push notification whenever there is a new article for the subscription you made.

The Newsstand is now a separate app that sits on your homescreen and contains all the subscriptions inside it. Each issue will display the most recently released news cover and also give you a push notification for new articles.

The Newsstand has a link that takes you to the App Store’s Newsstand section. Once clicked, it will give you a glance of all the subscriptions that are available in the App Store. The apps that are listed under the Newsstand section in the App Store are dedicated Digital downloads from the publishers.

Once you download the subscription’s app to Newsstand, your subscriptions will automatically start updating itself in the background , thus keeping you update about the news subscriptions that are available in the list. You can also disable the Background downloads under the Settings app on your device.

[alert_box type=”General”] Note: You cannot delete your the Newsstand app from your home screen. You cannot put that into a Folder, since the Newsstand app itself is of that sort. [/alert_box]

You can also delete your subscriptions in the same way you delete your Apps on your iDevice. So, that is Newsstand. And I think this will give the News and Magazine industry a huge boost in revenue.
