Untethered jailbreak is in works. Won’t come out until iOS 5 final build

Rejoice jailbreak enthusiasts, @pod2g has confirmed that untethered jailbreak is being worked on currently for iOS 5. But will not be let out until the final build of iOS 5 comes.

@pod2g, one of the members of chronic-dev team, has confirmed in a reply to a twitter user saying that the team is not dead and is actively working on jailbreaking the next version of Apple’s iOS, the iOS 5.

With Apple getting serious about jailbreaks mainly because of the increased use of cracked apps, and other security risks, the team is holding back the jailbreak until the final version of iOS 5 comes out to the market.

The iPhone Dev Team has already released their famous tool, Redsn0w to do a tethered jailbreak on iOS 5 betas. The tethered jailbreaks are not so user friendly, and needs to be connected to a computer to boot our iDevice.

@pod2g also confirmed that the untethered jailbreak will be released only after Apple releases the final build in another tweet to another twitter user. There’s  still no further information about the release date or time-frame from the dev-team. But all we can be sure of is that the Untethered Jailbreak is on the way for iOS 5 and the dev team is not dead and are still alive!

I’ll keep you posted about further information! Until then, you can subscribe to my RSS or follow me on twitter (@ImKarthikK).
