The following tutorial will guide you in running the HP’s WebOS on your Mac OS X machine with VirtualBox.
In case you’d missed, HP has stopped producing their tablet, the HP Touchpad and the device is now available for just $99. If you think you are not going to see any use or future in it, but just want to try out the WebOS, here’s a way to do so.
Using the WebOS SDK, VirtualBox and Mac OS X, you can actually tryout the OS for free. This should work on Windows also, since it just uses Virtual Box but I’m not very sure of it at this point.
The WebOS SDK comes with VirtuaBox images, preinstalled in it. All you need to download is to just download the VirtualBox image and run it on your Mac machine.
But running the actual emulator is also simple. You could just download and run the WebOS SDK installer and it will get installed like any other application on Mac in the /Applications folder.
Here are the files you need to download before you can run the WebOS SDK:
- Download VirtualBox for Mac OS X
- Download the WebOS SDK
