Email turns 30 today. V.A. Shiva, a 16 year old, copyrighted EMAIL. The copyright contains all the GUI and features we use today! Happy Birthday Email! 🙂

V.A. Shiva copyrighted the “EMAIL” today, 29 years ago (30th August 1982). The copyright contains the regular fields which we use today. To: From: Cc: Bcc: Subject: Reply, Reply All, Forward and the Email Body and attachment!

Shiva created the first email system back in the 1980’s when he was just 14 years old at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.
I began by studying how Inter-office mail was created, its characteristics, how it moved within one building, within a campus and across the three campuses of UMDNJ: Newark, Piscataway and New Brunswick (all in New Jersey). The info-graphic below shows the timeline of email system that are existing right now.

We must definitely thank Shiva for this wonderful innovation! He also said that everyone would support email since Facebook, who told that emails are dead are now using @Facebook addresses to compete with Gmail.
Email are our personal identity and almost our right to own one! Life without email would be unimaginable. He also writes:
That is what I developed, starting in 1978, as a 14-year old, for which in 1981 I was awarded recognition by the Westinghouse Science Awards for innovation, and in 1982 the First US Copyright for EMAIL
Before we close, Happy birthday email!
