Microsoft accidentally publishes their Social Network under testing

Microsoft today accidentally published their new social network which is in internal testing on the web. After realizing that they published it, they pulled it off leaving a message.

The project is named Tulalip. The project is under testing in SOCL.COM. The domain is owned by Microsoft. The new project has got a sign-in option with Twitter and Facebook.

The site stated:

“With Tulalip, you can Find what you need and Share what you know easier than ever”

The website was live for a short time and have been pulled off now. But the team has left a message regretting their mistake. Here’s what it states now:

Thanks for stopping by. Socl.com is an internal design project from a team in Microsoft Research which was mistakenly published to the web. We didn’t mean to, honest.

Looks like after Google, it is Microsoft that’s trying to make its leap into Social Media. But, let’s wait for the official launch. Until then, stay tuned.

Do we really need another Social Networking website? I doubt that. But they still have chances as they’re playing smart by integrating with Facebook and Twitter from the start itself which will remove the need of a time consuming sign up and more people will opt for it. But that again makes people take such websites lightly. They’ll probably use the Windows Live client for chat. But all in all, I doubt it will see success.

    • Yeah. May be Microsoft is making a bad move? No idea! And I doubt how many people use Windows Live Messenger still.

Well thats true. And they are aware of the lack of use of Windows Live. And I guess that is one of their reasons to start a whole new Social Networking Website. Where the people will chat and start using many of their old products like hotmail, Windows Live all over again. Plus popularizing many of their newer products like SkyDrive.

        • Yea. You pointed out rightly. They were infact aware of the lack of use of Windows Live and other social apps they’ve come out with. And also, they recently shut down their Power Management app Holm.
