This is interesting. The US and the Indian Google+ users can now post to their stream via SMS messages. This features was a major addition to Facebook since India is known for communicating majorly via SMS. This clearly shows that Google is fighting against Facebook and the poll I conducted also says the same.
This is quite surprising that Google is enabling this feature to the Indian users to update their stream via SMS. This comes in par with the Facebook Zero and Facebook Text Messages. Anyhow, here’s how you can enable this feature on Google+.
- Navigate to your Google+ Settings page
- Click on Add Phone Number
- Enter your Mobile Number and it will trigger a PIN code to your phone via SMS
- Enter the verification code and click on Confirm
- And, that’s it. You are done.
- Now, just send your status message to 9222222222 (For Indian Users)
- Add @ Public to the end of your SMS and it will be visible to your Public Circle
- Add your friend’s email address anywhere in the message to invite him to Google+.
- Add @ at the end of the message to share only with the specified circles.
Hope this was helpful. Next up will be a tutorial on how to work with the Google+ SMS feature and some tips and tricks. Until then follow me on twitter (@ImKarthikK) or subscribe to my RSS.
