Will Gevey SIM work on iPhone 4 running iOS 5? [Answer: Yes]

Apple released iOS 5 beta to its developers some days before and I have been trying it out on my test device. As a part of this test run, I already covered the topics:

There were many users who were asking if Gevey SIM, which seems to be the only successful hardware unlock so far for iPhone 4, is just working fine on iPhone 4 running iOS 5. I just tested this out on one of my friend’s iPhone 4 with a Gevey SIM unlock. So, if you are a iPhone 4 user relying on Gevey SIM hardware unlock, and wants to run iOS 5, you are good to go.

Don’t hesitate to post back if you have some issues. I am currently testing iOS 5 with Gevey SIM on iOS 5 beta 1 registered with Apple Developer’s Account ad haven’t faced any issue with it. If you need to test out some feature, just leave a comment here and I will get back with the results as soon as possible!

    Hey please help me out. My uncle bought me an iphone 4 from US with a gevey sim pro 4.2.1. Now the system is prompting me to do a software update. But will the phone get locked if i do so. I need to upgrade because ios 5 is looking awesome and need it. Please help me and tell me if there are any ways to do a software update without getting the phone locked.

      You will be able to use iPhone 4 with Gevey SIM without any problem. But what I would suggest is, wait until the final iOS 5 comes out!. 🙂

      You can very well update your iPhone 4 to iOS 5. But at this point of time, I recommend you to stay on iOS 4.2.1. We have tested iOS 4 on iOS 4.3.3 with Gevey SIM and it works just fine! You are good to go with iOS 4.3.3. Wait till fall to step onto iOS 5. 🙂

    Just purchase a factory unlocked iPhone 4s and all of your problems will be solved. Sell your 3gs’s & 4’s and stop mucking about.

    I have an iPhone 4 unlocked by Gevey Sim. My current iOS is 4.3.5 and baseband 4.10.01. Now that the final iOS5 is out, is it ok to upgrade my phone? Will the baseband also be upgraded in the process and therefore lock my phone?

    am using iphone4 wit gevey sim.. jst nw upgraded my phone wit ios5.. aftr finishing the procedure fr gevey sim, ‘no service’ is coming..!!! ;( am not able to use my phone nw 🙁

    Hi,

    I have iphone 4 with OS 4.3.3. It was working fine with Gevey sim from last 6 months but yesterday i got an option for an update in itunes and i clicked on update.

    After that now i am getting an error that your sim does not support and now i am unable to do the procedures of Gevey sim as the configuration does not completed.

    I am unable to complete the configuration.

    Can somebody help me to resolve the issue? My phone is dead and that makes me so upset..

    Please help ASAP

    Hi, I have an iPhone 4 using iOS 4.1. It is unlocked with the Gevey SIM. Now, to the question; will it work if I update the iOS? Or will the Gevey SIM stop working? I asked the person that unlocked my phone and he said “If you update the phone, the Gevey SIM will no longer work. And that’s your responsibility.” Is it true?
