iOS 5 limitations in iPhone 3Gs [What you need to know?]

We’ve been catching up with all those that were released in yesterday’s WWDC 2011 Keynote speech. iOS 5 will be coming this fall with a lot of exciting new features to play with. Jobs confirmed yesterday that iOS 5 will run on all the devices that can run iOS 4. But in the past there has been some limitations on older devices whenever a new iOS version was released.

But this time around, the iOS 5 features page does not talk anything about the limitations of iOS on iPhone 3Gs. We got a chance to try out iOS 5 on iPhone 3Gs and found the following features missing and found some promising features to be working fine.

[alert_box type=”Success”]What works on iPhone 3Gs running iOS 5:[/alert_box]

  • Notification center
  • Twitter integration
  • Newsstand and store
  • Safari Reading List
  • Grid lines in Camera.app

[alert_box type=”Error”]What does not work on iPhone 3Gs running iOS 5:[/alert_box]

  • Photo editing in Camera.app (Red Eye reduction, Magic wand, Cropping)
  • Missing tab bar below address bar in Safari
  • Some notifications seems to be missing. But we consider it as a bug as of now.

We will keep you posted about the feature list as and when we discover it. Watch this space for more. 🙂
