Gmail toolbar now has a fixed position. [Google]

Google has been working on many of the interface enhancements for its products. As far as I spoke to some of my Googlers, they now have a fully dedicated team to work on all these. And as a part of the enhancement, Gmail now has an update.

The Gmail toolbar is now fixed. And it stays below your browser’s address bar even when you scroll down the screen. You can see it in action in the image below!

The update is pretty cool. Go, check your mails now!!

I will keep you posted about new updates as and when it comes out. Until then, subscribe to my RSS or follow me on twitter (@ImKarthikK)

This is not cool, it’s highly annoying!! Especially if you have a mini laptop!!!

    • I agree. How do we turn this feature off?

Developers, please stop placing static toolbars at the top or bottom of the page where it blocks content. When we use the spacebar, page up/down keys, or click on the scroll bar we advance or retreat an entire page. A fixed toolbar obscures part of the text which essentially hides a line or two of content which we never even know is hidden. Stop hiding content from us.

      • Hi Kevin,
I don’t think there is a feature to disable the fixed toolbar! 🙁 I’ve written to Google about your feedback. Let’s see if something happens.

      • At present there is no way to remove the fixed toolbar. I’ve raised this issue to Google Mail team. But they’ve not responded yet!
