Trail rooms are dead. Kinect replaces them [Augmented Reality]

As you might know, I’ve been writing so much about Kinect. And we must admit, it’s one of the best innovation lately. Imagine you’re going to a mall and the trail rooms are full. You’ll have to wait in a queue, until some room becomes vacant. This problem is now sorted out. Thanks to the Augmented Reality.

AR Door, a Russian agency, specialized in Augmented Reality has come up with this practical implementation of a virtual trial room in a store at Moscow. Take a look at the video below:

This fitting room is really awesome and has been built with some complex and sophisticated technologies. The Kinect is used to control the program with some simple gestures and the augmented reality application allows the user to select garments. The system is loaded with the dresses in the store. Though this is awesome, I wonder how many stores will use this since it will cause a queue to use this system, leaving the trail room behind! :D. Way to go Kinect!
