During the recent times we have seen millions of smartphones’ featuring capability. The touchscreen technology has evolved from simple plastics to glass and then to gorilla glass making their way to sturdiness and feature rich. The picture below explains how this works. We’re working on a market research of this technology. We’ll soon post our results on our blog:
The latest addition to the touchscreen technology, is the new slim glass substrate that makes very thin displays, rather than the bulky ones which we use today. A team of developers from Asahi have created what is known as the worlds first thinnest touchscreen displays.
This new display technology is said to have 0.28 mm thick soda-lime glass which is 15% thinner than the existing ones in the market. It is also said to sport the Dragontail technology which is a competitor to the Corning’s Gorilla Glass display.
Its obvious by the progress made in the smartphone technology, who wouldn’t want a thinner touchscreen which readily reduced battery consumption and weight. This new Touchscreen is said to hit the market Q4 2011.
