The wait is over. It’s now possible to root Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread running on Nexus S. PaulObrien is an Android rooting expert, has released the most safest way to root your Nexus S running Android Gingerbread. The tool’s named SuperBoot. This tool flashes the boot.img, thus enabling you to root your Android device.
Happy Note: This does not flash the entire rom or mess up with any of your highly complex files.
Important Note: Do this at your own risk. If you’ve got a retail Nexus S, it’s necessary for you to unlock the bootloader first. You may use ./fastboot-windows oem unlock to do so. Besto! 🙂
Here are the steps to root your Nexus S:
- Open up your about page on your device to know which copy of SuperBoot you require.
- Grab a copy of the SuperBoot and have it in one place. [Download Links below]
- Turn off your phone. Now turn on your Nexus S, holding the volume up button. This will take you into the Bootloader mode. Something similar to DFU mode in iPhone.
- Now it’s time to install SuperBoot:
- On Windows: Fire up “install-superboot-windows.bat”
- On Mac: Fire up the Terminal, Type “chmod +x install-superboot-mac.sh” in the directory where you extracted the downloaded files. Then type “./install-superboot-mac.sh”
