Intel’s Mobilin, a challenge to Windows 7 for Netbooks?

I was speaking to a techie from Intel, India and Just heard this peice of information.” Intel has sponsored a OS development company called Mobilin to develop a OS called Mobilin OS for the netbooks. And now, interestingly, the internet has seen the taste of the beta version of the Mobilin OS through torrents. Physics, animation and OpenGL Graphics are being the main goals of the Mobilin OS. The main interface uses a toolbar, which makes it possible for the user to make his hand dirty with his netbook. And also, added to the toolbar, it collapses panels for launching applications and performing tasks such as creating notes, planning using your calendar, etc. The best thing that Mobilin OS (MOS) has is the Social Networking sites and also, you can update your Twitter or Facebook status messages, right on the home screen.

The OS also includes an optimized web browser based on one of the most widely used web browser, Mozilla Firefox. Also, the MOS is set to include a fresh Media Player, an integrated Wireless Network Connection Manager and also, a lot of fun packed applications. The MOS has been built on Linux, thus, its obvious that almost all the existing Linux applications should be able to run on the MOS.
